Baysville Curling Club Board Meeting July 13, 2022

BCBC Board Meeting, July 13, 2022

Attendees: Dianne Jones, Ed Mathany, Bill Rowlands, Anna Landry, Joan Beaudry, Jim Rotz, Cathy Hoare, Murray Turnour, Dana Pearson, Suzanne David Regrets: Sylvain Desjardins

Meeting specifically called to discuss the Trillium Grant Application which is due August 3, 2022

Dehumidifier

  • We must have for this curling season and therefore work needs to start soon

  • Action: Ed will contact Cimco to discuss putting down a deposit and whether it would be refundable

Council presentation results from July 12 (see Attachment 1)

  • Requested a grant of $15K

  • Staff is checking to see if they have the money and will report back next meeting (August 9)

  • During the meeting a suggestion was made to give us a break in our taxes instead of providing a grant which is under consideration

  • CAO was on vacation and therefore missed the meeting

Curling Canada loan of $30K

  • Joan has applied

  • Better interest rate than CurlOn. Club can’t afford two loans. If successful with both, we will choose Curling Canada loan

  • Will hear back in early Aug

District of Muskoka funding

  • Action: Community grant would be a possibility. Suzanne to investigate

Trillium Grant

  • Submission due August 3

  • Action: Suzanne will complete and submit

  • Response isn’t expected for 3 months and therefore this grant cannot be used for the dehumidifier

  • Board identified the top 9 priorities and then voted on them to get the top 3

  • Capital priorities with vote results in brackets

  1. Rink ceiling and insulation which would then have to be finished (10)

    a) Will help the dehumidifier work more effectively

  2. Main social area including floors and ceiling (8)

  3. Basement upgrade - changeroom, basement hallways, storage, flooring and ceiling

  4. Washrooms (7)

  5. Furnace and air conditioning (1)

  6. Kitchen and bar (3)

  7. Bocce courts

  8. Make rink area all season and make accessible

  9. Main entrance/accessibility/fire rated doors (1)

  • Triathlon donated $300 in gift cards for food for the volunteers which Joan and Dean donated to the club
