BCBC Board Member Roles

    • Convenes and presides over all meetings of the Board and General Membership.

    • Supervises the Club Executive and Directors-at-Large.

    • Oversees various Projects and Committees.

    • Appoints, subject to Board approval, any and all Committees needed.

    • Agrees to or signs for, subject to the Constitution or the approval of the Board of Directors, all matters pertaining to the Curling & Bocce Club.

    • Coordinates a team for the annual Surf & Turf fundraiser

    • Represents the Club at external Functions, and serves as Spokesperson for the Club

    • Manages the CurlON, Goldline, and other external relationships.

    • Serves as Point-of Contact for the Township of Lake of Bays and the Baysville Arena.

    • Acts as one of the Club’s bank signing authorities.

    • In coordination with the Vice-President, ensures oversight for ClubPhysical Operations and Club Revenue Generation activities.

    • Serves as a member of the Club Executive

    • Assists the President in the Operations and Management of the Club

    • Substitutes for the President when necessary

    • Performs duties delegated by the President or assigned by the Board

    • In coordination with the President, ensures oversight for Club Physical Operations and Club Revenue Generation activities.

    • The Vice President is anticipated to succeed the President

  • The Secretary will:

    • Prepare monthly meeting agenda

    • Record meeting minutes and distribute to Board members and ensure the minutes are posted on website

    • Arrange for minutes to be posted on BCBC website

    • As appropriate, create and circulate member communications including some of communications circulated by the President

    • Maintain records

    • Working with the Treasurer and the Director-At-Large - Bar Services, ensure that the Club Incorporation documents, Banking Institutions and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) are formally updated of changes to the membership or the structure of the Board of Directors on a timely basis.

    • Ensure health and safety equipment is in place and in working order (first aid kit and defibrillator).

    • Ensure incident report form is up to date, copies are in place at the club and proper records are kept (locked in bar area).

    • Conduct safety orientation with each curling group prior to start of the season. Topics will include proper equipment (head protection and good condition grippers), incident reporting and location of health and safety equipment.

    • Ensure health and safety page on web site is current.

    • Responsibility for Club compliance with Rowan’s Law (Concussion Awareness). This includes reviewing and becoming familiar with Ontario’s Concussion Awareness Resource, acting as the “designated person” under Rowan’s Law and ensuring that the Board makes such designation on an annual basis.

    • Co-ordinate with Director-at-Large - Building Maintenance as necessary in respect of safety matters such as ensuring exists are clear, emergency lighting and smoke detectors.

    • Keep apprised of health and safety requirements applicable to the club and advise the Board of any new requirements.

    • Follow direction of the Board and take the lead on implementing any required changes to the operation (such as screening and masking), including liaising with all draw masters and other users.

    • Communicate with local public health unit as necessary.

    • Establish the facility cleaning schedule and co-ordinate with members.

    • Ensure adequate cleaning supplies are on hand.

    • Participates on the Board of Directors.

    • Coordinate Facility and Ice Rentals on behalf of the ‘Club’.

    • Review and Update BCBC Website information relating to Facility and Ice Rentals are current such as Pricing and the Rental options will maximize the revenue for the “Club’ and will align with the Values and Goals of the Club.

    • As appropriate, communicate with other Board Members on Facility and Ice Rentals that are unique and or out of the ordinary as the rental opportunity may impact the ‘Club’.

    • Update Calendar (To Be Reviewed with the Board as current system is not viable).

    • Maintain records as required.

    • Benchmark relevant ‘local’ organizations to ensure our offering and pricing is current and competitive.

    • Working with the Director - Bar Services, to ensure rentals that require this support can be managed. Work with the Director, Health & Safety to reduce the potential liability of Facility and Ice Rentals to the Club, its members and the Directors. Work with Director, Kitchen Services and Director at Large Bocce.
